Partnership agrement
The Partnership Agreement with the Diocese of Cuba is now well established. Many people may not realize that there is a vibrant Anglican presence in Cuba. The church is poor materially but very rich in spirit and we chose this diocese as partner because we believe it will be a wonderful reciprocal relationship that will enable both partners to grow in the faith as we liase together. One of the benefits besides close proximity (relative to Tabora) is that there are less language barriers as many Anglicans in Cuba speak English in addition to their native Spanish.
To date, exchange visits of both Bishops to each others synods have taken place. Thirty-five parishes in both dioceses have formed partnerships. As of today, over two tons of goods have been shipped to Cuba. Parishes, individuals and corporations have donated non-prescription drugs, office equipment and personal supplies for the people of Cuba. They are forwarded to Cuba free of charge through the generosity of a number of volunteers and companies that donate their services.
We have experienced a lot of interest and energy around this partnership program. Goods for Cuba continue to be donated. There is a real lack of non-prescription medicine, antibiotics, soap and hygiene products.
